1955 – Henri Marie René Leriche (1879–1955), French surgeon; often described as father of vascular surgery. Developed the Leriche operation (1913) and described Leriche syndrome (1940)
1974 – Sir Vincent Zachary Cope (1881-1974), English surgeon; described Cope obturator test (1919), Cope psoas test (1921), and Cope’s sign (1970)
1989 – Fredrik (Fred) Lange-Nielsen (1919-1989), Norwegian physician, Jazz musician and humanitarian. Described Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome (JLNS) (1957)
