The Mystery of Chronic Pain

We often look at chronic pain patients in the emergency department as the bain of our existence. These patients patients will often challenge, confront and test all of our diagnostic and empathetic capabilities.

But is it time for a better understanding and outlook at this condition? With recent research showing that chronic pain patients have on average a six month wait in Australia to see a pain specialist its no wonder we are seeing more of these patients in our emergency departments. Elliot Krane paediatric anaesthesiologist and chronic pain specialist provides us with an awe inspiring view and outlook at this challenging condition, with a look towards a new approach to treating these patients.

Hopefully the future may start to look a little brighter for us and these patients.
