Events
1938 – Foundation of the March of Dimes by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. The name “March of Dimes” was coined by Eddie Cantor during a fundraising appeal, encouraging Americans to contribute dimes to support the fight against polio. Over the years, the March of Dimes has expanded its mission to address various health issues, including maternal health and preterm birth.
