1877 – Angelo Luigi Soresi (1877-1951), Italian born, American surgeon, anaesthetist and inventor. Defined the hanging drop technique, early diaphragmatic hernia repair and myriad surgical inventions and patents

1828 – François Chaussier (1746-1828), French physician; designed the Le tube laryngien de Chaussier (1806)
1935 – Luís Morquio (1867-1935), Uruguayan paediatrician; described Morquio syndrome (1929)
