1710 – William Heberden (the Elder) (1710-1801), English physician; Heberden nodes (Digitorum nodi; or de nodis digitorum); first to describe angina pectoris in substantial detail (1872), and first described Henoch-Schönlein Purpura
1890 – Richard F. Ashman (1890-1970), American physiologist; described Ashman phenomenon (1947)
1915 – Harry Angelman (1915-1996), English paediatrician; described Angelman syndrome (1965)
Deaths
1826 – René-Théophile-Hyacinthe Laennec (1781-1826), French physician; Inventor of the stethoscope (1816) and coined the terms cirrhosis and mélanose, later known as melanoma.
