1871 – John Zahorsky Jr (1871-1963), Austro-Hungarian born American pediatrician; described Zahorsky syndrome [sixth disease, roseola infantum] (1910)
1879 – Winifred Mayer Ashby (1879-1975), English born, American pathologist. Described the Ashby technique (1919) for determining the volume and life span of red blood cells in humans.
