Anticonvulsants

We have come along way since the use of paraldehyde in 1882 and clobazam in 1979 in women for catamenial epilepsy. Anticonvulsants are a diverse group of agents used to treat epilepsy, bipolar, borderline personality disorders and neuropathic pain. It is therefore not too uncommon to see them present to the emergency department either as an acute overdose of chronic toxicity.
