1820 – Eduard Heinrich Henoch (1820-1910), German Paediatrician; described Henoch-Schönlein Purpura (1868)
1860 – Henri Albert Hartmann (1860-1952), French surgeon; described the Hartmann operation (1921) and Hartmann pouch (1921)
1889 – Henry William Woltman (1889-1964), American neurologist; described Woltman’s Sign of Myxedema (1924); Kernohan-Woltman notch phenomenon (KWNP) (1928); and Stiff-Person Syndrome (Moersch–Woltman Syndrome)
Deaths
1858 – John Snow (1813-1858), English physician; one of the fathers of modern epidemiology (the cholera cartographer), and a leader in the development of anaesthesia, medical hygiene and public health.
1873 – Moritz Heinrich Romberg (1795-1873), German neurologist; described Romberg’s Sign and Sensory Ataxia, the Romberg Test (1864), Howship-Romberg sign (1840, 1847), and Parry-Romberg syndrome (1825, 1846)
