Describe and interpret this CXR and CT chest
CHEST X-RAY INTERPRETATION
CXR Interpretation
There is a large soft tissue mass in the medial right lower zone.
Volume loss in the right hemithorax.
Lung fields otherwise clear, pleura clear.
CT Chest Interpretation
CT confirms the presence of a large soft tissue mass in the medial right lower lobe.
CLINICAL CORRELATION
This is a likely primary lung cancer.
Biopsy will be possible percutaneously or via bronchoscopy.
CLINICAL PEARLS
On the CXR we can tell that this tumour is in the medial segment of the right lower lobe because the right heart border is intact, indicating that the middle lobe is aerated.
