1737 – Luigi Galvani (1737-1798) Italian obstetrician, surgeon and anatomist. Discovered the physiological action of electricity and demonstrated the existence of natural electric current in animal tissue – “the electrical forces in muscular movements” or the ‘animal electricity‘
1844 – Friedrich Carl Ferdinand Busch (1844-1916), German surgeon and dentist; described Busch-Hoffa fracture (1869)
1853 – Pierre Marie (1853-1940), French neurologist; described Marie–Foix Syndrome (1913), Marie–Foix–Alajouanine syndrome (1922), Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (1886), Bamberger–Marie syndrome (1889), Marie-Strümpell disease (1884), and was the first to coin the term “acromegaly” in 1886
1892 – Nils Johan Hugo Westermark (1892-1980), Swedish radiologist; described Westermark sign (1938)
