1798 – Thomas Cuming (1798-1887), Northern Irish physician; described Cuming sign (1822)
1809 – Amédée Bonnet (1809-1858), French orthopaedic surgeon; published the first cadaveric studies and account of the Segond fracture (1845)
1845 – Carl Weigert (1845-1904), German pathologist; described the Weigert-Meyer rule (1877) and Weigert’s law (1896)
1873– Henry Harrington Janeway (1873-1921), American physician and pioneer for radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer. Described the Janeway Gastrostomy (1913) and invented the Janeway Laryngoscope (1913), and Janeway rhythmic inflation apparatus (1910)
