1895 – Dickinson Woodruff Richards, Jr. (1895-1973), American physician. Awarded Nobel prize for work in development of cardiac catheterisation and physiology with André Frédéric Cournand and Werner Theodore Otto Forßman.
1898 – Alexis Frank Hartmann (1898-1964) was an American pediatrician; described Hartmann’s Solution (1932), and the Schaffer-Hartmann Method – for true blood glucose analysis
1914 – Klaus Hermann Betke (1914–2011), German paediatrician; described the Kleihauer–Betke Test (1957)
