1780 – John Abercrombie (1780-1844), Scottish physician; provided early descriptions of Crohn’s disease and perforated duodenal ulcer
1826 – Jean-Baptiste Octave Landry de Thézillat (1826-1865), French physician and neurologist. Provided the original description of Guillain–Barré syndrome (1859) as Landry ascending paralysis
1853 – James Rutherford Morison (1853-1939), English surgeon. Described the Pouch of Rutherford Morison (1894) and BIPP: Bismuth, iodoform and paraffin paste (1916)
1926 – William Angelo Zavanelli, American obstetrician and gynaecologist; described the Zavanelli Manoeuvre (1978)

1969 – William (Wilhelm) Dressler (1890-1969), Austrian-American cardiologist. Described the Dressler beat (1952) and Dressler syndrome (1956)
