James Bain (1934 – ) Canadian anesthesiologist. Inventor of the Bain breathing circuit; a significant advance in anaesthesia and a modification of the Mapleson D circuit.
The DAS Macewen medal was founded in 2009, by the Difficult Airway Society (DAS). The medal is to recognise distinguished members of the society for their service to the society and airway management.
Thomas Philip Ayre (1901-1979) was an English anaesthetist. Ayre is most well-known for his eponymous T-piece, a device which revolutionised anaesthesia for babies and children.
